As of 2021, there were approximately 82 million e-cigarette users, or vapers, worldwide.

Vaping prevalence varies significantly across countries. In Indonesia, about 25% of respondents reported using e-cigarettes at least occasionally, indicating a high prevalence. In Switzerland and the United Kingdom, the figures were 15% and 13%, respectively. In contrast, countries like Brazil and Morocco reported much lower usage rates, with only 6% and 2% of respondents, respectively, indicating occasional use.

It's important to note that vaping rates can differ within countries based on factors such as age and gender. For instance, in the United States, 4.5% of adults aged 18 and over were current e-cigarette users, with higher usage among men (5.1%) compared to women (4.0%).

Additionally, there is a concerning increase in e-cigarette use among children and young people in many countries, with rates exceeding those of adults.
